Dodgers Fight Chicago Cubs in Game 3 For National League Championship

The Los Angeles Dodgers will try to move within two victories of their first World Series berth since 1988 when they play host to the Chicago Cubs in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series Tuesday at Dodger Stadium.

The teams split the opening two games of the best-of-seven series at Chicago’s Wrigley Field, with the Cubs winning 8-4 Saturday and the Dodgers 1-0 on Sunday.

Left-hander Rich Hill will pitch for the Dodgers, facing right-hander Jake Arrieta, who pitched a no-hitter at Dodger Stadium in 2015.

Hill was acquired in a five-player trade with Oakland on Aug. 1, when he was both leading the American League with a 2.25 ERA and on the disabled list with a blister on his left middle finger.

The 36-year-old Hill remained on the disabled list through Aug. 24, then was 3-2 with a 1.83 ERA in six starts with the Dodgers in the regular season.

Hill started twice in the National League Division Series against Washington, allowing four runs on six hits in 4 1/3 innings when he was charged with the loss in Game 2 and one run on three hits in 2 2/3 innings in Game 5, receiving a no decision.

Hill began his professional career with the Cubs, making his major league debut with them in 2005. This will be the second time he has faced them. He pitched two-thirds of an inning of relief against them in an interleague game May 21, 2011, as a member of the Boston Red Sox.

The Dodgers are Hill’s eighth team in his 12-year major league career.

A special loaded hot dog will be available at all of Dodger Stadium’s extreme loaded dog locations throughout the National League Championship Series.

The Chicago Dog is a super dog on a poppy seed bun with spicy brown mustard, diced onions, green relish, a pickle spear, tomato wedges and sports peppers.

A Chicago Burger will be available at the Elysian Park Grill on the field level. It is a Wagyu beef burger on a potato bun, topped with spicy brown mustard, diced onions, green relish, a pickle spear, sliced tomatoes and sports peppers.

Dodger broadcaster Rick Monday will throw the ceremonial pitch to Steve Yeager, the Dodgers catching instructor. The two were teammates with the Dodgers from 1977-84.

The national anthem will be sung by gospel recording artist Keith Williams Jr. Members of all five branches of the military will unfurl a giant flag on the field before the national anthem.

U.S. Army Lt. Col. Stephen Ramella of Lake Forest will be honored as the military hero of the game. Ramella joined the Army in 1990 as a logistics specialist and was commissioned in 1999 as an infantry officer, then converted to a finance officer. He is now executive officer of the U.S. Army Southern California Recruiting Battalion.

Ramella served a tour of duty in Afghanistan from 2010 to 2011. He received a Bronze Star and four Meritorious Service Medals.

The acoustic guitar duo Everett Coast will perform and two flash tattoo artists will be in the left-field reserve area from 3-5 p.m. DJ Adam will provide musical entertainment and the Orange County rock cover band The Trip will perform in the right-field reserve area from 3-5 p.m.

Auto gates and stadium gates will open at 2:08 p.m. The Dodgers will conduct batting practice from 1:55-2:55 p.m. and the Cubs from 3-3:50 p.m. The first pitch is set for 5:08 p.m.

Fans are being encouraged to arrive early and to carpool or use an alternative transportation service. The Dodger Stadium Express will begin service from Union Station and the South Bay 2 1/2 hours before game time.
