The Los Angeles Dodgers will join the rest of Major League Baseball in conducting the inaugural Childhood Cancer Awareness Day tonight.
All players, managers, coaches, umpires and ground crew members will wear gold ribbon decals and wristbands in an attempt to further promote awareness for childhood cancer, the leading cause of death by disease in children ages 15 and under in the U.S.
The ceremonial first pitch before the game against the San Diego Padres at Dodger Stadium will be thrown by 4 1/2-year-old Nathan Flores of Culver City, who has been battling acute lymphoblastic leukemia for more than a year, but the disease is in remission.
Jaden Munoz, a 13-year-old cancer survivor from Pasadena, will attend Dodger batting practice with his parents and meet players on the field.
