Eight individual fires that broke out this morning in the North Hollywood and Sun Valley areas are being investigated by the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Arson Section.
The fires started about 3 a.m. and included large waste bins, a mattress laid against an auto and outside structures burning next to a commercial building, Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
All the fires were quickly put out, minimizing any damages and no one was injured, Scott said.
“Anyone even contemplating starting a fire in the act of arson in LA, better think twice,’ he warned.
“The LAFD considers the crime of arson to be the most egregious crime committed in the city, and our arson investigators will utilize all of our resources to investigate and prosecute the responsible parties,” Scott added.
Six LAFD arson investigators responded to the scene, Scott continued. One person of interest was detained and questioned but subsequently released, he said.
Department officials asked anyone with information about the fires to call (213) 893-9850.
