A 28-year-old Camarillo woman who had been hiking in Malibu Creek State Park was rescued yesterday after she fell on a cliff side, injuring her ankle, authorities said.
Rescuers used a boat to cross a creek, climbed the opposite cliff face and then descended by rope to reach the woman just before 1 p.m., said David Katz, reserve captain with the Sheriff’s Malibu Search and Rescue Team.
They lowered the hiker to the creek bed, secured her in a rescue basket and carried her to the boat, which was rowed back across the creek, Katz said.
She was then carried to a waiting ambulance, which took her to her vehicle, he said, adding that she declined to be taken to a hospital.
