The Los Angeles Coroner has confirmed that a famed movie producer died by suicide after jumping out of his Century City apartment.
On Tuesday the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner ruled that Steve Bing–film producer and prominent Democratic political donor–died from multiple blunt trauma by suicide. On Monday Bing was found dead at the base of his apartment building in Century City, the Ten Thousand at 10000 Santa Monica Blvd.
Among Bing’s Hollywood accolades, was producing the 2000 Sylvester Stallone film “Get Carter”, investing heavily in the 2004 Tom Hanks film “The Polar Express” and co-writing the 2003 comedy “Kangaroo Jack.”
Bing, the son of doctor and philanthropist Peter Bing, was left hundreds of millions of dollars that in inheritance.
Bing donated millions to the Democratic Party and candidates and campaigns for liberal-leaning ballot measures in California.
A 2002 DNA test required by a British court determined that Bing was the father of the Damian Hurley, son of model and actress Elizabeth Hurley, whom he had dated. Bing was also the father Kira Kerkorian, daughter of movie mogul Kirk Krekorian’s ex-wife Lisa Bonder.
“I am saddened beyond belief that my ex Steve is no longer with us. It is a terrible end. Our time together was very happy and I’m posting these pictures because although we went through some tough times, it’s the good, wonderful memories of a sweet, kind man that matter. In the past year we had become close again. We last spoke on our son’s 18th birthday. This is devastating news and I thank everyone for their lovely messages,” wrote Elizabeth Hurley in an Instagram post Tuesday.
