Figure skater Gracie Gold was named Thursday as the 2014 Sportswoman of the Year by the Los Angeles Sports Council.
Gold won the ladies’ singles title at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships last January and a bronze medal in the team competition at Winter Olympics the following month. She was fifth in ladies’ singles at the Olympics.
Gold, who lives in Redondo Beach and trains at the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo, will be honored during the 10th annual LA Sports Awards March 15 at The Beverly Hilton.
The Los Angeles Sports Council announced on Wednesday that Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim outfielder Mike Trout were the region’s 2014 Sportsmen of the Year.
