Greg Bettinelli, a partner with Upfront Ventures, a Santa Monica-based venture capital firm, will speak at a “fireside chat” in Santa Monica on Wednesday, November 18.
The event takes place starting from noon till 1:30 p.m. at the Historic Woman’s Club, 1210 Fourth Street, Santa Monica, CA 90401.
Upfront Ventures is LA’s number one venture capital firm. Upfront has a $280 million fund and has recently invested in Luxe Valet (“the Uber for personal valet services”); Retention Science (a data analytics firm that boosts marketing results); Combatant Gentlemen (purveyor of high-quality, affordable men’s clothing); Deliv (a same-day delivery service); and Draft (a fantasy sports app).
Other investments include GOAT (a service that facilitates buying sneakers using a mobile device); Silversheet (software that connects doctors and medical facilities); thredUP (a site that makes it easy to buy and sell like-new women’s and children’s clothing); and Walker & Company (a company that specializes in the grooming needs of people of color).
Prior to joining Upfront Ventures, Bettinelli was the chief marketing officer for HauteLook, a leading online flash-sale retailer. Launched in December 2007, Los Angeles based HauteLook was acquired by Nordstrom, Inc., in March 2011 for $270 million.
Before HauteLook, Bettinelli was Executive Vice President of Business Development and Strategy at Live Nation, responsible for strategic direction and key business partnerships for Live Nation’s ticketing and digital businesses.
Before Live Nation, Greg held a number of leadership positions at eBay, including Sr. Director of Business Development at StubHub, where he led business development, partnerships, sales and seller development, including spearheading StubHub’s landmark relationship with Major League Baseball.
TechFire, run by local digital expert David Murphy, will host the event, along with Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, a law firm that is well known for its many successes in the startup space. Patrick Anding of WSGR will moderate the discussion.
