Gary David Goulin, 62, Admitted To Possessing Dozens of DVDs and Over 600 Images of Child Sexual Abuse Material

A former pediatrician pleaded guilty to possessing child sexual abuse material (CSAM) on multiple DVDs and computing devices. Gary David Goulin, a 62-year-old resident of Beverly Grove, admitted to possessing 4 DVDs containing sexually explicit material featuring minors below 12 years old. In addition, he had 57 other DVDs with CSAM content, each lasting for an average of three hours and 21 minutes. He also confessed to knowingly receiving a video of CSAM via his cellphone in August 2021.
Goulin acknowledged possessing over 600 images, including some of the children engaging in sadistic or masochistic conduct, that constituted child pornography. His guilty plea resulted in a requirement to register as a sex offender. Goulin will be sentenced on October 13 by United States District Judge Maame Ewusi-Mensah Frimpong. He could face a maximum of 20 years in federal prison.
Goulin previously faced charges in Los Angeles Superior Court for possessing child pornography and sexually exploiting a child. However, the federal indictment against him led to the dismissal of that case. The Medical Board of California prohibited Goulin from practicing medicine in November 2021. The FBI and the Los Angeles Police Department conducted the investigation.
Sarah S. Lee, Assistant United States Attorney, is prosecuting the case for the General Crimes Section.
