The Los Angeles Galaxy will unveil its Ring of Honor at StubHub Center before tonight’s 2016 Major League Soccer season opener against D.C. United.

Former midfielders Cobi Jones and Mauricio Cienfuegos and the late team executive Doug Hamilton will be the initial Ring of Honor members.

Jones played for the Galaxy from its inaugural 1996 season through 2007. He is the team leader in games played (306), games started (281) and minutes played (25,157) and is second in goals with 70.

Cienfuegos played for the Galaxy from 1996 through 2003. His 80 assists are third most in team history and 35 goals are fifth.

Hamilton was appointed as the team’s general manager in 2002, remaining in the position until his death from a heart attack on flight from Costa Rica, where the team had played a CONCACAF Champions Cup game, to Los Angeles on March 9, 2006, three days after his 43rd birthday.

Inductees into the Ring of Honor are required to have been retired from MLS for at least three seasons. Additional members will be added to the Ring of Honor as determined by the team president and what the team describes as a small advisory council including former players, staff and supporters.
