Geffen Playhouse Unveils Star-Studded Cast for Los Angeles Premiere of “POTUS”

Geffen Playhouse Unleashes Top-Tier Cast for Hilarious Premiere

By Dolores Quintana

Geffen Playhouse has officially announced the stellar ensemble cast for its Los Angeles premiere of “POTUS: Or, Behind Every Great D*mb*ss Are Seven Women Trying to Keep Him Alive.” The three-time Tony Award-nominated play, written by Selina Fillinger (known for Apple TV+’s The Morning Show and Something Clean) and directed by Jennifer Chambers (The Cake, The Enigmatist), is set to captivate audiences with a blend of humor, political satire, and an outstanding cast.

The cast includes:

  • Ito Aghayere (Junk, Bernhardt/Hamlet) as Chris
  • Dierdre Lovejoy (The BlacklistThe Wire) as Bernadette
  • Alexandra Billings (Wicked, Transparent) as Margaret
  • Lauren Blumenfeld (The Assembled Parties, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) as Stephanie
  • Shannon Cochran (A Doll’s House, Part 2; Bug) as Harriet
  • Jane Levy (Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, Suburgatory) as Dusty
  • Celeste Den (M. Butterfly, American Born Chinese) as Jean

Previews for “POTUS” kick off on January 17, 2024, at the Gil Cates Theater at Geffen Playhouse, with the highly anticipated opening night scheduled for January 25, 2024. The production will run until February 18, 2024.

The play promises a rollercoaster of comedic events at the White House, where a derogatory comment, a summit gone awry, and an anal abscess set the stage for a day filled with chaos. As the President inadvertently turns a PR nightmare into a global crisis, the spotlight shifts to the seven women tasked with cleaning up the mess. Audiences are invited to take a raucous romp through the West Wing in this riotous and irreverent farce, exploring the dynamics between those who hold power and those who get the job done.
