The critically acclaimed mystery thriller “Gone Girl” topped the North American box office, fending off a pair of debut films to retain the number-one spot, according to final figures out Monday.
“Gone Girl” earned $26.4 million between Friday and Sunday, giving a two-week total of $77.9 million, according to box-office tracker Rentrak.
“Dracula Untold” opened in second place with $23.5 million, followed by another debut, “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day,” which earned $18.4 million.
The horror film “Annabelle,” in its second week of release, earned $15.8 million, while “The Judge” debuted in fifth place with $13.1 million.
Rounding out the top 10 movies this weekend were “The Equalizer” ($9.7 million); “Addicted” ($7.5 million); “The Maze Runner” ($7.4 million); “The Boxtrolls” ($6.6 million); and “Left Behind” ($2.8 million)
