Over 60,000 cases countywide

Local health officials have confirmed a handful of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases at a Westwood homeless shelter set up to house people on the streets during the pandemic.
According to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (Public Health), there have been six total cases of COVID-19 at an emergency homeless shelter at the Westwood Recreation Center. Three of the cases are among residents and three are among staff.
Countywide there have been 249 cases of COVID-19 among homeless shelter residents and 31 among staff while six total deaths have occurred in these settings.
Among the population as a whole in Los Angeles County there have been 64,644 cases 2,655 deaths in the county as a result of COVID-19. Among Westwood residents there have been 80 cases and five deaths. Among Century City residents there have been 38 cases and zero deaths.
