Hillary Clinton to Visit Los Angeles

Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton is scheduled to begin a two-day visit to Los Angeles and Orange counties today by taping an appearance on the ABC late-night talk show “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and holding the first of four fundraisers.

Tickets for the evening fundraising event in the Beverly Hills area begin at $2,700 per person, according to an invitation obtained by City News Service. The ticket price is the maximum individual contribution to a presidential candidate under federal law.

Individuals raising or contributing $27,000 will be admitted to a co- host reception with the former secretary of state. A couple donating $100,000 will attend a dinner with Clinton and have their picture taken with her.

Amounts exceeding the $2,700 limit are customarily allocated to the Democratic National Committee and state Democratic parties.

Chairs for the event include The Walt Disney Co. Chairman and CEO Robert A. Iger; DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg; Haim Saban, the chairman and CEO of the Saban Capital Group, Inc., whose assets include the Spanish-language television network Univision; and Casey Wasserman, chairman of the committee seeking to bring the 2024 Olympics to Los Angeles and chairman and CEO of a sports, entertainment and  lifestyle marketing and management agency.

Supporters of Palestinian human rights who are also critics of U.S. military aid to Israel plan to hold a rally at Will Rogers Park across from the Beverly Hills Hotel, then march a half-mile north on Benedict Canyon Drive to the intersection where Clinton’s motorcade and fundraiser attendees will pass, organizers said.

Clinton’s visit begins one day after the Republican National Committee released a 19-second paid web ad critical of “Hillary Clinton’s liberal elite summer tour with frequent stops in Beverly Hills, Hollywood and Cape Cod.”

On Tuesday, Clinton is scheduled to hold a $33,400 per person Westside luncheon fundraiser, with hosts including actor Tobey Maguire, actress Jennifer Aniston and television producer Shonda Rhimes and two fundraisers in Laguna Beach.

The $33,400 figure is the maximum amount an individual can contribute to a national party committee in a year.
