IMAX and Warner Bros. Team Up for Multi-Picture Agreement

IMAX Corp. and Warner Bros. Pictures Wednesday announced a multi-picture agreement that includes up to a dozen new films from the studio’s upcoming slate, extending the two companies’ 13-year partnership.

As part of the agreement, IMAX will release a number of high-profile animated and live-action releases, according to a joint statement. The titles include the planned 2017 release “Kong: Skull Island” and its “Godzilla” sequel, “Blade Runner 2049,” “Tomb Raider,” “Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One,” “The LEGO Batman Movie,” “Minecraft,” the “Fantastic Beasts” and “Where to Find Them” sequel, and “Justice League,” “Wonder Woman” and other DC titles.

The agreement also includes Christopher Nolan’s film, “Dunkirk,” for which Nolan used IMAX cameras.

“We are very pleased to continue our longstanding partnership with IMAX with these exceptional pictures and look forward to ensuring our audiences have the opportunity to see a range of diverse films on the largest and most immersive canvas possible,” said Sue Kroll, president of Worldwide Marketing and Distribution at Warner Bros. Pictures.

Greg Foster, CEO of IMAX Entertainment and senior executive vice president of IMAX Corp., said the WB/IMAX pairing “has yielded billions of dollars in box office and has become synonymous with blockbuster entertainment around the globe.”
