Just in time for summer, Italian designers of luxury bedding, Magniflex, introduce a collection of fine linen mattresses and pillows, offering the comfort and coolness of the fabric favored by garment designers for its crisp feel against the skin. The Linen Experience collection is now available at Blueprint in Los Angeles and Pomp in Culver City.
The new linen line highlights the health benefits of the textile known for its all-season comfort, durability and strong eco character.
Made from organically bio-cultured flax, a fast-growing crop that uses fewer resources than cotton and produces fiber twice as strong, outer shells for the linen mattresses and pillows are removable. The more it is washed the softer it gets.
“Most consumers think of only high-thread-count bedding for their home. But the luxurious use of fibers like silk, cashmere and linen in fashion have unsurprisingly made their way into interior design — and the mattress is no exception,†said Christopher Grubb, interior designer and president of Arch Interiors in Beverly Hills, Calif.
“With linen, consumers can readily appreciate its benefits as a breathable, durable fabric, but also seek it out for its natural look and tactile feel. They love learning that linen is not only elegant but actually very environmentally friendly.â€
Made with non-toxic, renewable and certified organic materials, the new linen mattress is part of the most advanced collection of natural oil-based memory foam mattresses that are not only luxurious to the touch, but aid in a good night’s rest as well.
Linen Experience (starting at $1,999 in queen) features Magniflex’s exceptionally soft and absorbent linen covering, which is removable for easy laundering and highly durable. In the core of the mattress, Magniflex replaced the largest petroleum-based component found in other visco-elastic memory foams with natural oil alternatives. The results are soy and aloe based Memoform – the company’s proprietary eco-friendly memory foam.
The special formula enables the foam to contour to the curves of the body upon contact without retaining body heat, as found with other memory foams. The temperature-neutral properties help to further keep you warm in winter and cool in the summer.
It is part of the new eco-friendly Naturally Magniflex series, which certified by the Global Organic Textiles Standard (GOTS) and also includes the BioCotton Caresse and Bamboo Chic mattresses, featuring organic cotton and organic bamboo fibers, respectively.
Complementing the mattresses are three linen pillows, each featuring an orthopedic construction and a removable, washable organic linen cover. The cores are made of GeoGreen shape-conforming foam, the company’s proprietary aloe-based memory foam. Pillows carry a suggested retail price starting at $99 for the Linen ComfortPlus pillow.
Known for its quality craftsmanship and innovation, Magniflex has developed many unique mattress covers and cores that provide comfort and safety to consumers while minimizing impact on the environment. It was the first mattress company to be certified by Oeko-Tex to guarantee absence of allergenic substances harmful to consumers and to the environment.
The company also holds the original patent on the vacuum-roll system which is now widely used by the specialty mattress industry. Mattresses arrive at consumers’ homes vacuum-packed and rolled to one tenth of its size, enabling one-person delivery and setup. Besides saving money during the shipping process, vacuum-packing significantly lowers the product’s overall carbon footprint.
