Canadian Director’sTeam Inches Closer to Securing Historic Venue
Westwood’s iconic Fox Theater may undergo a change in ownership, with an investment group led by Academy Award-nominated director Jason Reitman reportedly in the final stages of assuming control of the 1,400-seat venue, according to a report by The Ankler.
The Fox Village Theatre property, initially listed in early 2023, is on the brink of transitioning to the hands of the investment group, marking a potential new chapter for the historic cinema.
The Fox Theater, a notable backdrop in Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” is famous for hosting major film premieres and cinema events. Its features include a corner lot, prominent signage, and a signalized intersection, contributing to its significance in the Westwood community.
Built in 1929 and officially opened in 1931 by Fox Film Corp. founder William Fox, the cinema has stood the test of time. Recognizing its cultural importance, the city designated it a historic cultural monument in 1988.
According to Co-Star, the theater property is currently in escrow.
