Legendary performer Joni Mitchell’s 75th Birthday was celebrated with two all-star concerts at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, and raised funds for the Music Center’s artistic programming for underserved communities.
The concerts featured performances by Norah Jones, Kris Kristofferson, Seal and James Brown to name a few! These world-renown artists performed Mitchell songs from all stages of her life, and since her library contains 4,162 titles, they are still singing their hearts out for this remarkable icon.
Among the cadre of celebs in attendance, we spotted Angela Bassett, Jake Gyllenhaal, Darryl Hannah and Angelica Huston. A fantastic evening for a great artist, indeed!
The Associates for Breast and Prostate Cancel held their 29th Annual “Talk of the Town” gala at Beverly Hilton honoring Major Scotty Smiley and Kelsey Grammer.
Major Smiley, a true American hero was the first blind active duty officer in military history and is a recipient of a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.
Patrick Wayne, Chairman of the John Wayne Cancer Institute Foundation, presented the Spirit of Entertainment Award to Kelsey Grammer, whose career as an actor, producer and director is well acknowledged. He is an advocate for many causes, including survivors of domestic abuse and Broadway Cares and fighting AIDS.
Following dinner, The Jacksons took the stage and brought the crowd to its feet for a dynamic set. As usual, the ABC’s event was a rip-roaring success.
