Justin Bieber sticking to two-year probation agreement, court hears

Pop star Justin Bieber, who pleaded no contest to misdemeanor vandalism for throwing eggs at a neighbor’s Calabasas home, has been sticking to his two-year probation agreement, his attorney told a Van Nuys judge today.

Bieber paid $80,000 in restitution to the neighbor, finished 80 percent of his required anger management classes and is working on the five days of community labor he must complete under the terms of his formal probation, the website TMZ reported.

Attorney Shawn Holley appeared in court on the 20-year-old singer’s behalf and told the judge that she expected her client to complete his obligations by Feb. 10. Once he fulfills that promise, Bieber will be on unsupervised probation.

Bieber pleaded no contest to misdemeanor vandalism on July 9.

As part of the deal negotiated with prosecutors, the entertainer was ordered to stay away from ex-neighbor Jeffrey Schwartz and his family.

Prosecutors reportedly considered a felony case because the damage — nine eggs were supposedly thrown — was said to be more than $400 — the legal standard for a felony. But Head Deputy District Attorney Alan Yochelson told the judge in July that the misdemeanor charge was “appropriate.”

Yochelson said during the hearing that the egg-throwing was “extremely immature” and a “silly act.” He noted that the home that was struck by the eggs was a “dream house” for the victim’s family, and that a large amount of work went into its construction.

Bieber sold his Calabasas home to Khloe Kardashian and is now believed to be living primarily in the Beverly Hills area when he’s in the Southland.

The Jan. 9 egging — part of which was recorded on video — in the 25000 block of Prado Del Grandioso triggered a Jan. 14 raid on the home, in which Bieber’s pal Lil Za, whose real name is Xavier Smith, was arrested on suspicion of drug possession.

In April, Smith pleaded no contest to possession of Ecstasy and a misdemeanor count of damaging a jail or prison for smashing a phone at the sheriff’s station in Malibu. He was ordered to attend a drug program, perform 20 days of community labor and spend three years on probation, as well as pay $600 in restitution and a $1,000 fine.

The felony drug count can be reduced to a misdemeanor if Smith completes the drug program.

Bieber’s next probation hearing is scheduled for Feb. 10. The pop star is not required to appear.
