LAPD Seeks Public Assistance in Identifying Attempted Murder Suspect Following Nightclub Incident

Robbery Homicide Division Detectives Are Urging the Public to Help Identify a Suspect

By Dolores Quintana

Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery Homicide Division (RHD) are reaching out to the public for assistance in identifying a suspect connected to an attempted murder case that took place outside a nightclub.

The incident occurred on April 16, 2022, around 2:35 AM, when the victim left the Hyde Sunset nightclub and returned to his vehicle parked in the 8200 block of Sunset Boulevard. As the victim stood by his vehicle, he was approached by two male suspects of Black ethnicity, both armed with firearms. One of the suspects later referred to as suspect-1, attempted to rob the victim at gunpoint. During the confrontation, suspect-1 fired a gunshot that struck the victim. After the attempt, the suspects fled the scene in a vehicle, leaving without taking any property from the victim.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as a black or dark-colored sedan, specifically a 2004-2012 BMW 3-Series. The vehicle features distinctive 5-spoke wheels and is notable for its lack of a front license plate. Detectives also suspect possible damage or malfunction to the passenger side tail light of the vehicle.

In an effort to encourage potential witnesses to come forward, detectives have secured a $50,000 reward from the Los Angeles City Council. This reward is offered to anyone who can provide information that leads to the identification, arrest, and prosecution of the individuals responsible for the crime.

Individuals with relevant information are strongly encouraged to contact the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery Homicide Division. Detectives Dupree and Casalicchio can be reached at 213-486-6890 during regular business hours. For those calling during non-business hours or weekends, the dedicated hotline at 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (1-877-527-3247) is available.

To remain anonymous while sharing valuable information, individuals can contact the L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477) or visit www.lacrimestoppers.org. Online tips can be submitted through the LAPD’s official website, www.lapdonline.org, under the “Anonymous Web Tips” section in the “Get Involved-Crime Stoppers” menu. Additionally, tipsters can use the “P3 Tips” mobile application and select L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers as their local program.
