Hollywood is known for rolling out the red carpet for the Oscars, but Los Angeles International Airport will be opting for gold this weekend to celebrate the entertainment industry’s biggest night.

The 100-foot-tall LAX Gateway pylons, which adorn the Century Boulevard entry to the airport, will be illuminated in gold on Saturday and Sunday nights in honor of the 87th Oscar ceremony.

Airport officials said the pylons will glow gold from dusk till dawn each night, a tribute to the golden Oscar statuettes that will be handed out Sunday night at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

The pylons have been a fixture along Century Boulevard since August 2000. Eleven tempered-glass columns of increasing height line roughly 1.5 miles of the roadway, leading to a ring of 15 100-foot-tall columns at Century and Sepulveda boulevards.

The columns are oriented to mimic an aircraft takeoff pattern, and airport officials said they are visible from 3,000 feet in the air.

Rehearsals have been going on all week at the Dolby Theatre in advance of Sunday night’s ceremony. Lady Gaga prepared Thursday night for her performance, and tweeted “I’ve got goosebumps already. What an honor to perform for the world and such an immensely talented audience.”

Jennifer Hudson, Anna Kendrick, Jack Black, Adam Levine, Tim McGraw, Rita Ora, Common and John Legend and pop duo Tegan and Sara are also among those scheduled to perform at the show.
