Los Angeles city and police officials today will announce a public outreach campaign aimed at cutting down on hit-and-run crashes.
The city will release a series of public service announcements themed “Obey the Rules of the Road” that will also target motorists who text, make phone calls or are otherwise distracted while driving.
As part of the campaign, Clear Channel Outdoor will be donating space on digital billboards across the city to spread the safe-driving message.
Actress Anne-Marie Johnson, who appeared on “In Living Color” and “In the Heat of the Night,” co-produced and directed the public service announcements that will be featured in the campaign. Actor Reno Wilson (“Mike & Molly”) is also expected to attend a morning news conference announcing details of the effort.
Also expected to attend are Los Angeles police Chief Charlie Beck, Capt. Ann Young and City Council members Joe Buscaino, Mitch Englander and Marqueece Harris-Dawson.
