Los Angeles Dodgers to conduct second annual LGBT Night Out

The Los Angeles Dodgers will conduct their second annual LGBT Night Out at Dodger Stadium at tonight’s game against the New York Mets.

Actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson will throw the ceremonial first pitch and Eric Stonestreet, who portrays his partner on the ABC comedy “Modern Family,” will also be on the field during pregame festivities, as will former Dodger outfielder Billy Bean, recently appointed as Major League Baseball’s first “ambassador of inclusion.”

Mary Lambert will perform the national anthem. The customary Friday night fireworks show will be themed to LGBT night and feature music by DJ Manny Lehman. Like all Friday night fireworks shows at Dodger Stadium, it will be canceled if the game runs too long.

Tonight also marks the start of the Dodgers’ seventh annual ThinkCure! Weekend, raising money for cancer research. Doctors from City of Hope and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles will throw out a first pitch and patients will serve as honorary bat kids and participate in Kids Take the Field.

A special extreme loaded hot dog, the New York Dog, will be available at extreme loaded dog concession stands on the field, loge and reserve levels throughout the three-game series against the Mets. It is an all-beef hot dog topped with onions in sauce, sauerkraut and spicy brown mustard.

Kenny Landreaux, an outfielder on the Dodgers’ 1981 World Series championship team, will sign autographs in the right field pavilion plaza from 5-7 p.m. and in the Stadium Club from 7-7:30 p.m.

Sudy Ayvazian of Inglewood, a U.S. Army corporal during World War II, will be honored as the Veteran of the Game.

Ayvazian was drafted in 1943 and served in France and Germany with the Medical Detachment 23rd Infantry as a non-commissioned medical officer. His accolades include a World War II Victory Medal and American Campaign Medal.

Dodger Stadium’s auto gates will open at 4:30 p.m. and its stadium gates at 5 p.m. for the 7:10 p.m. game.
