WVIA rolls out new recycling program.

The Westwood Village Improvement Association (WVIA) is taking recycling to the next level with a new recycling program that is the first of its kind in the City of Los Angeles, with custom made receptacles maintained by WVIA maintenance crews.
The receptacles feature Westwood Village branding that touts the area’s historical significance.
“The Association has done a terrific job working to make these attractive recycling bins available throughout the Village. This is a great opportunity to spread awareness of and participation in recycling in Westwood. The WVIA is also encouraging folks to go green and blue at work and at home, making Westwood cleaner while protecting the environment,” said Los Angeles City Councilmember Paul Koretz who represents Westwood and Century City.
The Westwood Village Improvement Association is a non-profit organization whose mission it is to make Westwood Village a “clean, safe and friendly place for the community” through maintenance, security and enlivening. In addition, to beautifying recycling receptacles, WVIA pressure washes sidewalks, return shopping carts to businesses, remove graffiti and provide hospitality assists to District visitors and shoppers. In addition, WVIA takes positions on issues and matters relating to Westwood Village.
To facilitate these services, the WVIA receives $1.3 million annually from assessments on 120 properties within the District.
