A man was critically wounded following a shooting outside a Westwood Village cafe and hookah lounge over the weekend.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), the shooting took place around 3:40 a.m. Saturday at Habibi Cafe located at 923 Broxton Avenue.
The victim–a Black male in his 40s–was talking with the suspect while standing outside the suspect’s vehicle, according to the LAPD.
The suspect drove away before returning to where the victim was standing and fired shots at the victim, striking him multiple times. The victim was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition.
The suspect fled in an unknown direction.
The LAPD has not identified a suspect at the time of publishing.
Century City-Westwood News has reached out to Habibi Cafe for comment but the business could not immediately be reached.
In addition, we have asked both the City and County of Los Angeles if COVID-19 guidelines allow hookah lounges to be open. Neither agency could be reached immediately.
