Few details released surrounding Monday afternoon incident
A man got trapped in the ventilation shaft of a Beverly Grove restaurant Monday.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), the incident was reported on Monday around 3 p.m.
Officials say a “conscious and alert” adult male was trapped feet-first in an 18-foot ventilation shaft at a two-story restaurant. According to the LAFD, the address was 8367 Beverly Boulevard, the location of Uncle Paulie’s.
LAFD Urban Search and Rescue crews responded to the scene to free the man.
“LAFD Firefighters, including an LAFD Urban Search and Rescue team specially trained, equipped and certified to manage confined space rescues, have utilized a high-point rope system with wrist straps to quickly and safely rescue the conscious and alert adult male, who claims he was trapped feet-first (a still unspecified distance deep) in an approximately 18″ ventilation shaft at a two story restaurant, for as much as 24 hours. The man, who has no visible injuries, is being medically evaluated by LAFD Paramedics, and will be interviewed by LAPD Wilshire Division (Incident #2674) Officers to determine his affiliation, if any with the site, as well as the circumstances under which he entered the ventilation shaft,” the LAFD said.
