A man accused of fighting with a Los Angeles police motorcycle officer during a traffic stop in Beverly Hills was being held on $1 million bail yesterday.
Jason Aaron Scott, 30, was arrested following the altercation, which occurred around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 8300 block of Wilshire Boulevard and was caught on video, police said. He was booked on suspicion of attempted murder of a peace officer.
The officer, an eight-year veteran of the West Traffic Division, stopped the man Tuesday morning, leading to a struggle. One witness told a reporter the man repeatedly punched the officer, who was wearing a helmet.
A cellphone video shot by another witness shows the man initially with the officer on the ground in a headlock. But the officer eventually manages to get on top of the suspect, and other officers eventually arrive to assist and take him into custody.
Witnesses said the man made threats about killing the officer, who was treated at a hospital for shoulder and hand injuries and then released.
