Incident occurs in San Vicente Boulevard Whole Foods parking lot last week

A man peppered sprayed an individual in the parking lot of a local Whole Foods recently in a coronavirus-related altercation.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) West LA Division Senior Lead Officer Matthew Kirk, the incident took place on January 6, 2021 around 9:30 p.m
Kirk, writing in a regular crime updated circulated by the Brentwood Community Council, says the confrontation took place in the Whole Foods parking lot located at 11737 San Vicente Boulevard.
The suspect approached victim in the parking lot regarding the victim “walking too close to him due to COVID-19,” the Department says. According to Kirk, the suspect “became angry” and sprayed victim with pepper spray. There is no further description of the suspect or the victim.
It is unclear if the altercation took place in the Whole Foods market or just in the parking lot. In addition, it is unknown if there were any citations or charges issued at the scene. The LAPD has not responded to a email asking these questions at the time of publishing.
