A man suffered severe burn injuries after flipping his car in Rancho Park this week.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAPD), the incident occurred on April 12 around 8:30 p.m. in the area of Overland Avenue and Exposition Boulevard.
“LAFD responders arrived quickly to find one parked compact passenger sedan fully ablaze, with one adult male civilian in extremely critical condition suffering severe full-body burn injuries on a nearby lawn, after bystanders reportedly extinguished him and wrapped him in a blanket,” said LAFD spokesperson Brian Humphrey
He was promptly transported by LAFD Paramedics to a regional trauma center, officials say.
According to the LAFD, the vehicle fire was quickly extinguished by firefighters with no fire damage to nearby homes and no other injuries reported. In addition, there were no other vehicles damaged, and no evidence of a collision.
The specific cause of the fire, as well as circumstances preceding and following the fire remain the focus of an active joint LAFD / Los Angeles Police Department investigation.
