There have been several specific moments during which I can remember feeling proud to be a resident of Mar Vista; and Thursday was one of those times.
Thursday night 6:30pm:
As I’m counting “likes” I’ve received from Facebook since I’ve uploaded a new picture of my latest manicure, I hear live music blasting outside my apartment.
I rushed to my window, looked down and witnessed the transition of my quiet suburban neighborhood into an incredible community of creative music and energy that will permeate all of Mar Vista from 6:30-10:30pm.
Introducing The Mar Vista Art Walk!
The Mar Vista Art Walk was initiated in first Thursday of each March, June, September and December.
Since its initial event in December of 2015, it’s been thriving with more creative talent of art and music.
This September’s event was more focused on the music. Up and coming bands that played in various locations including the Soaptopia . Trunk Gallery, Coffee Connection, Grand View Market and more were featured.
There was something special witnessing in the community as residents; walking from one venue to the next with their maps in hand, supporting their local artists. I ‘m grateful the Mar Vista has made an effort to support the arts and I look foreword for the next event in December!
The Mar Vista Art Walk was made by a generous contribution from GCI, Sony Pictures, DCA, Mar Vista Community Council, Michelle Pine Rappaport, and Gravilax.
