Mayor Eric Garcetti encourages utilization of winter shelters in Los Angeles County

Mayor Eric Garcetti today urged people without a warm roof over their heads to seek protection from the chilly weather at shelters set up around Los Angeles County.

“If you do not have shelter or your residence is not warm enough, call our winter shelter hotline or go to a designated pick-up point to be transported to a shelter,” Garcetti said.

To find the nearest 24-hour winter shelter, call the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority’s hotline at (800) 548-6047 or visit www.lahsa.org . The disability-accessible hotline is at (800) 660-4026.

A shuttle in Venice will transport people from Market Street and Ocean Front Walk to a shelter each night between 5 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.

Free hot meals are available at Fred Jordan Mission, 445 Towne Ave., which can be reached at (626) 915-1981.
