Meet Century City: Nannina Angioni, Kaedian LLP

Nannina Angioni.
Nannina Angioni.

Kaedian LLP co-founder Nannina Angioni has extensive experience representing companies, entrepreneurs, and management in state and federal litigation, administrative proceedings, and business and employment relations.

Can you tell me about what you do in Century City?

In December, I opened a law firm in Century City with two partners, Teresa Cespedes Alarcon and Kacey McBroom. I specialize in business, labor and employment law. I partner with my clients to represent them in lawsuits, administrative hearings, business negotiations and also provide ongoing advice and counsel concerning their employee issues.

What motivated you to get into this role?

I had been partner at a mid-sized litigation firm in downtown Los Angeles for a few years before deciding to open a law firm. During that time, I saw a need for a type of attorney-client relationship that was different than clients typically experience at traditional litigation firms. A relationship that, in addition to advocacy, focused on collaboration and providing a comprehensive service to businesses and those running the business, is a vision I shared with my current partners. The best way for us to fill the void was to do exactly what our clients have been doing for years, and go out on our own and execute our vision.

Where did it all begin for you career-wise?

For as long as I could remember, I wanted to be an attorney. Perhaps it had something to do with being prone to “debate” with family and friends? Coming from a family of entrepreneurs, I was often asked to weigh in on matters concerning business deals and employee issues. I saw firsthand what factors drove their business decisions and the types of issues businesses encounter during growth and development. Going into a practice specialty that combines law and business was somewhat of a natural evolution.

What do you love about Century City? Where is your favorite place to eat/exercise/take a break from the office in the area?

I’ve spent the majority of my career in downtown Los Angeles. Century City has a completely different energy. It’s inspiring and uplifting. The professionals in this community are quite accomplished, and yet still motivated to improve. The fact that the area is beautiful, also doesn’t hurt! There are great places to take a break, meet clients, or meet friends after hours – Craft, Toscanova, Seasons 52 to name a few.

If you could add one component to the neighborhood, what would it be and why?

I’ve only been here since December, so perhaps I’m still in the “honeymoon period” but, so far, I haven’t encountered a situation where I needed something and couldn’t easily find it. From business services, to shopping, restaurants, or entertainment, everything it accessible and often within walking distance – which is a fantastic bonus.

What do you do in your spare time?

I enjoy traveling, spending time outdoors, and cooking for family and friends.

What is one cool/unique activity you want to do this coming year?

I would like to get back to playing tennis. Growing up, I played often. Then, life happened and now it’s been 20 years since I’ve stepped onto a tennis court!

Where was your last vacation?

This past summer, my family traveled to London and Rome. It had been years since I had visited Europe and it was so worth all of the planning and preparation that went into being able to take two weeks off. The atmosphere, food, museums, and sites were breathtaking. Nothing is better than starting your day with espresso in a sidewalk cafe, roaming around town, popping into a gallery or basilica, stopping for aperitivo in a piazza, and then finishing the night with gelato and limoncello. If only I could get paid to live every day this way!

Where do you wish your last vacation was?

Sardinia, Italy. My father was born and raised in Sardinia and to this day, every member of his rather large family is still there. It has been too long since I’ve visited and am hoping to spend some time there later this year.
