Meet Century City: Nyaling Marenah, New York Life Insurance Company

Meet Nyaling Marenah of New York Life Insurance Company.
Nyaling Marenah

Once Nyaling Marenah realized there were plenty of successful people who didn’t know when or where to begin saving money, she knew that’s how she wanted to assist. As a financial services professional and registered representative at New York Life Insurance Company, Marenah helps Angelenos from all lines of work achieve financial independence. When she’s not crunching numbers, she enjoys working out, trying new restaurants, and going to the movies. Originally from Alaska, Marenah hopes to soon take advantage of the Los Angeles lifestyle and learn to surf.

Tell me a little about what you do in Century City?

I help business owners and other professionals to find tax advantaged ways to plan for their retirement and protect their wealth. My mission is to move people to action so that they are able to enjoy their ideal retirement as well as helping them to leave a strong legacy behind. I strive to help my clients to coordinate and prioritize their goals.

What motivated you to get into the role?

I was motivated to enter into this role because I am passionate about educating my community as well as helping families and individuals to attain their financial independence. Most people I meet with have some degree of financial literacy, but they’re looking to find creative solutions to their financial questions, which is what I aim to provide.

Where did it all begin for you career-wise?

I started out working with influencers and people in the fashion industry. I was helping people in industries that don’t always have traditional savings vehicles like a 401k to get started with their retirement planning. I realized that there are so many successful people in this city who don’t work as employees of a company in the traditional sense and people are striving to start their saving as early as possible. I have now branched out into many professional sectors including tech, legal, and medical fields.

What do you love about Century City? Where is your favorite place to eat/exercise/take a break from the office in the area?

I love the architecture and professionalism of Century City. There are so many industries represented and it is truly one of the nicest areas in Los Angeles. There’s shopping, a movie theater, and great restaurants. I love to have tea at the InterContinental and my favorite place to grab dinner after work would have to be Craft.

If you could add one thing to the area what would it be and why?

If I could add one thing to the area it would be a Blaze Pizza, which is currently at The Grove. It’s quick place to grab lunch but not feel like you’re in a fast food place. It’s a great place to bring clients when meeting during the day when we might be short on time.

What do you do in you spare time?

When I’m not working I love to do yoga and explore fun exercise classes around town. There really are so many enjoyable ways to work out here from hiking to dance classes, there’s always something new to try. I absolutely love to go out to eat and go to the movies; those are two social activities that I really enjoy.

What is one cool thing that you want to do this year?

One cool thing that I would love to accomplish this year would be to try surfing. I absolutely love going to the beach and enjoying the outdoors as much as I’m able. I grew up in Anchorage, Alaska and I spent many years snowboarding and I think it would be great to give it a try.

Where was your last vacation?

My most recent trip was to New York City – I have two sisters who live there so I always enjoy my time there. There’s amazing food, great fashion and art, and there is always something new and interesting going on.

Where do you wish your last vacation was?

If I could pick a vacation right now it would definitely be to Spain. I enjoy traveling to places that are rich in culture and have great food. Going to Spain would also be great because I could explore other neighboring countries easily. I’m definitely hoping to be able to make that trip sometime soon when I have enough time to really enjoy it. I am looking forward to meeting many more Century City professionals in the near future.
