Where is a black cat or broken mirror when you need one? Well, there were no such superstitious beings or items within Michigan – a state anecdotally associated with bad luck in recent years – on Friday the 13th, as a Mega Millions jackpot-winning ticket was sold there.

It is the third time in Michigan’s history a Mega Millions jackpot-winning ticket was sold in the State.

The jackpot was worth an estimated $66 million, according to the Mega Millions website.

Just what were the winning numbers for the June 13 drawing? They were 7, 38, 46, 49 and 56, plus the Mega Ball of 1. One ticket in Michigan matched all six numbers and has an estimated cash value of $37.9 million.

The previous two Friday the 13th jackpot-winning tickets were sold within Michigan on June 13, 2008, and May 13, 2011, according to the Mega Millions website.

New York is home to the only other Mega Millions jackpot winner sold on Friday the 13th (on March 13, 2009).

A lucky winner in Virginia matched five numbers for the $1 million prize on the Friday the 13th drawing.

Also in Friday’s drawing, one ticket, sold in Virginia, matched the first five numbers for a $1 million prize.

According to Mega Millions, this is the seventh jackpot won in the numbers game in 2014, including winners in Tennessee (January 3, $61 million), Florida and Maryland (March 18, splitting $414 million), New York (March 25, $20 million), California (April 4, $30 million), and Pennsylvania (May 20, $149 million). The latter prize is still unclaimed, according to the Mega Millions website.

The odds of matching all five numbers and the Mega number is 1 in 258,890,850, according to the Mega Millions website. The overall chance of winning a prize is 1 in 14.71.

The Mega Millions game is played in 43 states, the District of Columbia and U.S. Virgin Islands.
