BHPD Issues Statement on Menendez Brothers Case Following DA Announcement
The Beverly Hills Police Department (BHPD) released a statement in response to a press conference held by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office regarding the case of The State of California vs. Erik Galen Menendez and Joseph Lyle Menendez.
Erik and Lyle Menendez were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in July 1996, following their conviction on two counts of murder and conspiracy for the 1989 killings of their parents, José and Kitty Menendez. The BHPD served as the lead investigative agency in the case, presenting evidence and facts to the District Attorney’s Office, which resulted in the filing of criminal charges.
The BHPD clarified that, as of now, it has not been contacted by the District Attorney’s Office regarding any new developments in the case.
In the statement, the department emphasized its commitment to transparency and collaboration with all agencies in the pursuit of justice. Any inquiries about the press conference or the case should be directed to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
