The Mr. Chow Founder’s Museum-Inspired Luxury Estate Features Nine Bedrooms
Michael Chow, founder of the famed Mr. Chow restaurants, is once again attempting to sell his sprawling Los Angeles mansion, listing the art-filled estate for $65 million. This marks the fifth time in six years that the property has been placed on the market as reported by SF Gate.
Chow, 85, and his wife, Eva, originally listed the 26,552-square-foot Holmby Hills estate in October 2018 for $78 million. After removing it from the market a year later, the couple has since relisted the home four times, each time lowering the asking price.
The mansion, completed in 2005, took seven years to build and draws inspiration from Madrid’s Reina Sofia Museum. The property, described as being located on “the finest street in Holmby Hills,” serves as a gallery for Chow’s extensive art collection, which includes both antiquities and contemporary works.
“Inspired by the iconic Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid & built by a world-class art collector on the finest street in Holmby Hills, a spectacular backdrop was created for a personal collection of antiquities and contemporary art,” the listing notes.
The estate, situated near the Playboy Mansion, features nine bedrooms and 14 bathrooms. Highlights include a grand 30-foot entryway with 400-year-old Moorish columns, a two-story great room with a carved fireplace, and a chef’s kitchen with an oversized center island.
