The 27-year-old mother of four children who were critically injured in a South Los Angeles house fire was arrested Monday on suspicion of child endangerment causing great bodily injury.
Chiquita Jordan of Los Angeles was being held in lieu of $100,000, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The children, ages 2-8, were injured on Jan. 16 in the fire in the 800 block of West Manchester Avenue, near Hoover Street, according to the LAPD.
Detectives with the LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division began an investigation because it was not believed that the children would survive their injuries, but there were no fatalities.
Detectives with the Abused Child Section of the department’s Juvenile Division took over the investigation last Monday, police said.
One child went home soon after the fire but three others remain in a hospital burn unit, according to LAPD Officer Mike Lopez..
Jordan has ties to Las Vegas and detectives are seeking information from the public about the family’s travels to and from that city, according to the LAPD.
Anyone with information related to the case was urged to call LAPD Detective Moses Castillo at (213) 486-0586.
After-hours and weekend calls should be directed to (877) LAPD-24-7.
