The concert will feature Haydn’s late masterpiece, the “Harmonie” Mass, the Violin Concerto in G minor by Max Bruch, with soloist Yi-Huan Zhao, and the world premiere of a new work by Santa Monica composer Alan Chan, co-commissioned by the Los Angeles County Arts Commission and the Music Guild and featuring Erhu virtuoso Hong Wang.
Chan is a multi-faceted composer and the co-founder and program director of Gateway Performance Series in Los Angeles, which features innovative programs and emerging artists throughout the country.
Wang, a native of China, is an acknowledges “Master” of the erhu. A dynamic performer, he was featured in Meredith Monk’s her opera “Atlas,†with Tan Dun in his “2000 Today†world premiere and has lived in the US for the past 18 years.
