Greystone Mansion of Beverly Hills is finalizing steps to complete their remodeled community Demonstration Garden with a fundraiser this Saturday, April 5, hosted by Whole Foods Market, located at 239 North Crescent Drive in Beverly Hills.
Five percent of the sales generated that day will help support the planting, landscaping, and furnishing of the garden at Greystone Mansion, being completed by Armstrong Garden Centers.
“The Greystone Demonstration Garden is looking really beautiful. My heartfelt thanks to the City of Beverly Hills, Armstrong Garden Centers and Whole Foods Market for their generous support,” states Barbara Linder, community leader at Greystone Mansion. “The garden is a great place to learn, grow, give, and get to know each other. We are so excited to open it to the public and invite them to enjoy a wonderful summer planting season.”
Armstrong Garden Centers has committed $62,000 in landscaping services, planting and construction materials, irrigation work, and corporate support for the Greystone Demonstration Garden. Jessica Kostosky, landscape designer of Armstrong Garden Centers, created the design and layout. The funds from Giveback Day go toward the goal of $7,760 to complete the garden.
“Based on the needs and goals articulated by the Greystone team, the garden was designed to maximize the space for learning and growing food within the site,” says Kotosky. “This demonstration garden is an example of how an edible garden can provide not only food, but allow for teaching, learning, and building community.”
The Greystone Demonstration Garden will be hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly remodeled garden on Sunday, April 13, at 2 p.m. with Beverly Hills Mayor Lili Bosse, Armstrong Gardens, Whole Foods Market and Beverly Hills resident Barbara Linder. Community members are invited to attend the free dedication event, which will include refreshments, Herbs and Veggies classes from Armstrong Garden, a fundraising plant sale, and other interactive gardening activities. Ongoing, complimentary gardening classes will continue to be provided to the community after the garden is completed.
