Attorney Nina Shaw, a founding partner of Del, Shaw, Moonves, Tanaka, Finkelstein & Lezcano was honored as 2013 Entertainment Lawyer of the Year by the Entertainment Law Section of the Beverly Hills Bar Association (BHBA) at its prestigious annual Awards Dinner on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at The Beverly Hills Hotel.
Comedian/actor Arsenio Hall was the Master of Ceremonies. Guest speakers included Jon Moonves, one of Shaw’s law partners, Past Entertainment Lawyer of the Year recipient Marty Singer, and Shaw’s long friend Sylvia Swilley, M.D. A video tribute to Shaw included cameos from Eric Holder and Kamela Harris as well as many of Shaw’s clients, Jamie Foxx, James Earl Jones, Nick Cannon, Montel Williams and Laurence Fishburne, among them.
Shaw was praised for her keen intellect, determination, loyalty and vision, as well as her tremendous capacity to give back to the community, in particular through mentoring and championing education for women.
Proceeds from the event support the bar association’s education and community outreach programs.
The Entertainment Lawyer of the Year Award honors leaders of the entertainment law field for their contributions to the profession and has been presented annually since 1989 by the BHBA, which has the largest entertainment law section of any bar association in the world.
