Open Neighborhoods and Martifer Solar USA will be presenting a free community solar event at The Green Life (2409 Main Street) in Santa Monica on Wednesday, November 10th. Complimentary refreshments and hors d’oevres will be served starting at 6pm, followed by a presentation and discussion workshop beginning at 7pm.
Local solar experts and residents who have already gone solar will be on hand to speak about the process of installing solar panels on a home or business. The free event will also include a “solar 101†informational workshop where participants receive the latest news regarding rebates, energy savings, tax incentives and financing options. Advance registration is required: www.openneighborhoods.net/rsvpsolar.
In 1999 the City of Santa Monica became the first municipality in the nation to purchase 100% green power for its electricity needs, and solar panels are now installed at over 260 sites in Santa Monica. Susan Munves of Santa Monica’s Office of Sustainability will provide an update on what the City is doing to promote clean, renewable energy in Santa Monica.
The November 10th event is part of the Open Neighborhoods GoSolar 2010 program, which makes large-scale volume purchasing available to residents and businesses with significant price discounts ranging from twenty to thirty percent. Participants in the program can purchase all-inclusive fully installed solar panels made by SolarWorld USA for as low as $4.22/watt DC (STC). Federal tax credits and utility rebates bring the cost down further. Lease and SolarLoan purchasing options are available through Martifer Solar’s financing partners. The result is immediate electric bill savings for qualified customers.
GoSolar 2010 runs through December 3rd, 2010. Interested participants can request a free solar assessment at www.openneighborhoods.net/gosolar.
