Kanye West and a photographer who sued him over a confrontation at Los Angeles International Airport reached a settlement of the paparazzo’s case Tuesday.

The terms of the accord between the 37-year-old West and Daniel Ramos were not divulged by the plaintiff’s attorney, Gloria Allred, who would only say it included an apology by the rapper to her client.

“We are very proud of our client Danny Ramos and his courage in bringing and pursuing this case, which was so important to him and many other celebrity photographers,” Allred said. “We believe that this case sent an important message. Celebrities are not above the law, and they have no right to physically attack someone simply because they were asked a question.”

Ramos sued West a month after the two tangled at LAX on July 19, 2013, alleging assault and battery. Ramos, who was standing about 10 feet away from West, called out to him and asked, “Kanye, can we talk to you, Kanye?,” Allred said.

Ramos then asked, “What’s going on? Why can’t we talk to you?  I mean, why?,” according to Allred.

West then tried to wrestle Ramos’ camera away, but the paparazzo held onto the equipment and fell down onto his knees onto the paved sidewalk with enough force that he sustained injuries to his right hip and had to be transported in an ambulance to a hospital, according to Allred.

Trial of the case had been scheduled to begin April 14.
