A fire at the former Brotman Medical Center in Culver City prompted the evacuation of patients this afternoon, but no one was injured.
The Culver City Fire Department could not immediately be reached to provide details, but Culver City police reported at 1:12 p.m. that there was a fire at the hospital at 3828 Delmas Terrace, between Venice and Washington boulevards.
The Los Angeles Fire Department sent 55 firefighters to the hospital after receiving a request for assistance just before 1 p.m., said the LAFD’s Brian Humphrey.
Culver City Mayor Meghan Sahli-Wells reported at 2:26 p.m. that the fire was out and no one was injured.
Traffic in the area was affected, she said.
Patients, some of them on stretchers, and medical personnel could be seen outside the facility, which is now called Southern California Hospital at Culver City.
The fire broke out on the roof near an air system unit that sent smoke into the inside of the building, according to a report from the scene.
