One story home under construction catches fire Thursday
By Sam Catanzaro
A home under construction in Pico-Robertson went up in flames Thursday morning resulting in a civilian injury.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), the fire was reported at 9:01 a.m. at 1728 S Shenandoah Street. Firefighters arrived to find a one-story single-family dwelling with heavy fire showing.
It took 41 firefighters 23 minutes to extinguish the fire in a one-story home under construction, according to the LAFD.
“Due to the compromised nature of the structure (due to incomplete construction), firefighters took a defensive posture to battle the fire from the exterior. Once the flames were pushed back, firefighters entered the structure with hose lines to eliminate the remaining hot spots,” LAFD spokesperson Nicholas Prange said.
According to the LAFD, there was one civilian injury.
The cause of the fire is under investigation;
