Hirshberg Foundation Group Ready to Energize Runners
On St. Patrick’s Day, participants in the Los Angeles Marathon can expect an extra boost of luck and energy as they pass by the lively Purple People Party cheer station. Celebrating its 15th year, this cheer station, hosted by the Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research, promises a festive atmosphere with a DJ playing energetic tunes, volunteers distributing healthy treats, and a spirited crowd cheering on the runners, including members of the Hirshberg Training Team.
Named after the color representing pancreatic cancer awareness, the Purple People Party has garnered a reputation as one of the most vibrant and popular cheer stations along the marathon course. With over 100 volunteers, including families, cancer survivors, and enthusiastic spectators, all dressed in purple, the cheer station creates a block party ambiance with pom-poms and noisemakers.
The relocation of the Purple People Party to Beverly Hills adds an extra layer of celebration for the Hirshberg Foundation. This move provides an opportunity to introduce the foundation to new participants and extends support to half-marathoners who will now pass by the cheer station.
