Rubio’s 38th Birthday and Fish Taco Day: $6 Coastal Trio Special

Indulge in Celebration with a Flavorful Fiesta Deal

January is a special month for Rubio’s, as it marks the 38th birthday of the popular restaurant chain and the celebration of National Fish Taco Day on January 25th. The journey began when founder Ralph Rubio opened the first Rubio’s in Mission Bay, San Diego, a modest walk-up stand that ignited the fish taco phenomenon.

To express gratitude to its loyal customers, Rubio’s is offering the Coastal Trio for $6 throughout January 24th and 25th, presented with a special offer. Check out Rubio’s website page to redeem the offer.

While the fish taco’s origin in Mexico may be unclear, Ralph Rubio is credited with introducing it to the U.S. Inspired by a simple, delicious fish taco he encountered during a college spring break trip to San Felipe; Ralph opened the first Rubio’s near the beach in San Diego in 1983.

Starting as a small, walk-up taco stand in Mission Bay, Rubio’s sold its famous beer-battered Original Fish Taco®. Over the years, the brand expanded to nearly 160 restaurants in three states, selling more than 200 million fish tacos. The menu has also evolved to include responsibly sourced grilled seafood options, reflecting a commitment to sustainability.

You can find Rubio’s locations in Westwood, at UCLA, in El Segundo, and in Marina del Rey.

What was once an unusual concept outside of San Diego has become a nationwide phenomenon, with fish tacos gracing menus beyond Mexican restaurants. As Rubio’s celebrates its birthday and National Fish Taco Day, patrons are invited to join in the festivities and share a meal with the restaurant that played a significant role in popularizing this beloved culinary creation.
