The Santa Monica Police Department (SMPD) is seeking the public’s assistance with any witnesses to a felony hit and run traffic collision.
From SMPD: On November 15, 2016 at approximately 5:46 p.m., SMPD received multiple calls for service of a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision in the 1300 block of 2nd Street. Officers responded to the location and discovered an unresponsive female pedestrian with significant head trauma in the crosswalk. The Santa Monica Fire Department Paramedics responded and treated her at the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment to her injuries and remains hospitalized.
SMPD’s Major Accident Response Team responded to the scene to conduct a collision investigation. A preliminary investigation revealed the involved vehicle fled the scene after colliding with the pedestrian. The vehicle is described as a possible 2000-2006 Nissan Sentra; silver and 4-door. The vehicle may have damage to the front right side; from the bumper to the hood and windshield. The suspect vehicle was last seen southbound on Ocean Avenue towards Colorado Blvd following the collision. SMPD has not received any information on the driver or possible occupants of the suspect vehicle.
