U.S. Coast Guard personnel and county lifeguards searched the ocean near Zuma Beach today after clothing — and a note — were found on the beach, authorities today.
According to the Coast Guard, authorities received a call about 8:30 a.m. by someone “reporting that a note was left on the beach along with some clothing, giving the suspicion that someone had entered the water.”
“There has been no witness to any persons entering the water in that area,” the Coast Guard said.
U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer SondraKay Kneen did not provide details about what was in the note.
Crews in a Coast Guard helicopter and boat were sent to search the waters, along with personnel from the Los Angeles County Fire Department, Baywatch Malibu, and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department
Anyone with information on the possible missing person was urged to call the Coast Guard command center at (310) 521-3801.
