Holly and Rodney Peete created the Hollyrod Foundation in 1999 after they lost Holly’s dad to Parkinson’s disease and their son RJ was diagnosed with autism.
Since then, they launched the first Hollyrod Compassionate Care Center that provides young adults in over a dozen locations around the US and Canada with vocational training, job placement, and assistive technology to those afflicted with autism and Parkinson’s disease.
This year, they held their 21st Annual Design Care Gala at Saddle Rock Ranch in Malibu and raised over $700,000 for the cause.

The event featured musical performances by prodigious savant Kodi Lee (America’s Got Talent) and legendary iconic Band, Cameo. Also featured was a fashion show by designer, Pamella Roland; whose outfit was worn by Eva Longoria, winner of the Hollyrod Humanitarian Award. Other honorees included civil rights attorney, Areva Martin, Kalin Bennett (NCAA Basketball player with autism) and Jimmy Choi (American Ninja Warrior) who is an advocate for Parkinson’s disease. Some of the celebs in attendance included Earvin “Magic” Johnson.
Gabrielle Union, Laila Ali-Curtis, and Dwayne Wayde. A grand evening to help assist those afflicted with Parkinson’s disease and autism.

I am certain you remember my previous “Lady of the Week” Dr. Susan Stafford, former Hostess of “Wheel of Fortune”. Last week, Susan received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the AOF Megafest Film Festival in Las Vegas. Others honored included actor Steven Baldwin and Todd Fisher, who accepted an award for his late mother and sister, Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher. A beautiful event full of love and inspiration. Dr. Susan’s true legacy in life.
