Social City News: Make A Wish Foundation, Hollywood Bag Ladies

Multi-Grammy winner, Chaka Kahn helped Make A Wish Foundation raise $1.5 million dollars at their star-studded gala at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. These funds granted the wishes of 550 children in our LA community, and honored were Jason Keller, Paul Fuhrman and IMDB.

ESPN Correspondent Chris Connelly served as host to a huge group of supporters, Wish families and corporations and celebs, including Steve Howy, star of “Shameless”, and Chad Johnson from “The Bachelorette” who helped grant wishes to change the life of children with critical illness.

Do you know that Make a Wish Foundation of los Angeles has granted over 10,000 wishes to families and children in our area? For further information, check LAWish.org. Make a wish to help those in need.

We were pleased to attend the 17th Annual Bag Ladies Luncheon at the Beverly Hilton to raise awareness and funds to combat lupus. Dr. Sheila Barbarino received the Woman of the Year Award and spoke about her own experiences as a plastic surgeon working with patients suffering from this disfiguring disease. Lupus LA was formed by Dr. Daniel J. Wallace and funds raised go toward research, treatment and fellowships. To date, Lupus LA has raised over $13 million for the cause.

Linda Schwartz, Lisa Roth Harrison, Dr. Daniel Wallace, Janice Wallis, Marilyn Stammbler at the Bag Lady Luncheon.

As for the term “Bag Ladies” this identifies the myriad of celebs who donated ultra-fine handbags to be auctioned off. I bid on a Coach bag but was outbid by a fashionable lady at the next table. Kudos to luncheon chairman Denise Winner; and all fab females who made this afternoon a pure delight and an afternoon to remember.
