The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped six-tenths of a cent today to $4.132, its lowest amount since April 8.
The average price has dropped for eight consecutive days and is 2.7 cents less than one week ago and 9.6 cents lower than one month ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. However, it is 13.9 cents more than one year ago.
The Orange County average price also dropped for the eighth consecutive day today, decreasing six-tenths of a cent to $4.104, its lowest amount since April 6. It is 3.7 cents less than one week ago and 11.4 cents lower than one month ago but 14 cents more than one year ago.
The dropping pump prices stem from declining wholesale gasoline prices “so now prices are doing what we would expect them to be doing when Southern California refineries are in full production mode for the summer,” Marie Montgomery of the Automobile Club of Southern California told City News Service.
